KVM values academic performance but it also
values fun !! So it organizes picnics, outings,
package tours and educational tours. Such
outings provide a splendid opportunity for
the teachers to get to know their children
better, through greater and personal interaction
and to understand the other facets of their
personalities which are so difficult to
observe in the classroom.

ADVENTURE

Up and all excited
the 68 students of Middle Section assembled
near the front gate of the school along
with their parents at 4:30 am on June 3,
2010 to proceed on a 4 day excursion to
Narkanda. Teachers – Mrs.Manju, Mrs.
Aarti Bansal, Mrs.Sneh Kiran Verma, Mrs.Teenu
Maniktala, Mrs.Parvinder Kaur , Mr. Inder
and Mrs. Renu Immanuel took roll call of
the students and boarded the buses along
with their team of students and teachers
of Senior Section. The buses left the school
campus at 6 am. The breakfast was served
at the Le Classic Hotel, Pinjore. All filled
and satisfied company moved on to reach
The Asia Dawn Resort close to Shimla, where
lunch was served at 1’o’clock.
After lunch all three buses with 118 students
from Middle & Senior Sections left for
the base camp at about 1:30 pm. We reached
Narkanda Thytes Resort at 7 pm. Students
were served tea and snacks after a brief
introduction and campers went to their respective
resting areas from where they soon returned
for dinner. The weather was cool and lodging
was comfortable. With a nice bonfire and
light music to enjoy nice dinner was served
after which all students and teachers went
off to sleep.
On the second day
the adventures of the camp were introduced.
It all began with a three and a half km
trekking where students of class 6 and 7
stopped for their activities like valley-crossing,
rappling and rock climbing. The senior students
of classes 8 and 9 went on their trek for
another 3 km to reach hatu peak and temple.
The entire group was served lunch at the
point where activities were being done.
By 7pm all were back at the base camp where
refreshing rooh-aftza and snacks were served.
Dinner was served at 9 pm. A shift was made
in the sleeping corners and it was the turn
of junior girls to sleep in the tents already
pitched on the hill top. No sooner did they
settle down the storm play spoil sport.
Hurriedly the girls were shifted to the
safety of the rooms of the resort.
On the third day,
after the breakfast while the seniors trekked
to the activity areas the juniors trekked
to the Hatu peak and temple. Back at the
base camp there was lots of fun with loud
music and children dancing to their heart’s
content. Even the teachers could not hold
themselves back and joined in the fun. Mrs.Teenu,
Mrs. Parvinder Kaur and Mr. Sharanjit could
not hold back to bhangra beats. All tired
exhausted children slept late that night.
:
On fourth day packed and well fed we left
Narkanda at 8:30 amto proceed to Shimla
for shopping spree and then back to Ludhiana.
We reached school late at 11 pm to parents
eagerly waiting for us.
The trip was well
managed by the organizers, food was good,
arrangements were good except when rainstorm
struck to spoil the fun. Overall it was
an enjoyable trip.
TRIP TO GOA
(Oct 19 to Oct 24,2010)
In the autumn break,
a five day trip to GOA had been organized
by the school authorities. The Trip was Ludhiana-Delhi-Ludhiana
via Shatabdi Express and Delhi-Goa-Delhi via
GO Air. The first day i.e. October 19, 2010.
The stay was at 'NIZMAR RESORTS". However
the rooms of the hotel were big enough for
sharing among four students. The services
and the food were just average. The places
listed in the itinerary have all been visited.
We enjoyed the shopping, cruises and Beaches.
Students also enjoyed swimming in the hotel
pool. On October 24, 2010 the trip came to
an end and the students were handed over to
their parents on the Railway Station.

At KVM students are encouraged to participate
in a number of activities. The motto of
such activities is "to lead is to
serve". They aim at rendering help
to all classes of society but most specifically
the poor and underprivileged section.
KVM opened its heart to the children of
the inmates of Central Jail, Amritsar.
Under the tutelage of India Vision foundation,
an NGO started by Dr. Kiran Bedi, these
underprivileged children were given toys,
books, furniture and colours. This warmth
and affection provided them with a new
hope, whose future seems to be far from
perfect.
In order to inculcate a spirit of adventrue
and love for wildlife and nature among
its students KVM adopted a park where
saplings were planted by the students.
It was conducted under the aegis of the
programme 'Earth Matters' where the students
took a pledge to save their environment
and Mother Earth.
To bridge the urban and rural divide by
sensitizing the students and for channelizing
their surplus energy, the project "Ullas"
was concieved with the aid of Government
Senior Secondary school at Dhandra, a
village at the outskirts of Ludhiana.
Under this project our students interacted
and trained the students of the village
in various areas like music, dance, art,
craft and sports besides learning folk
art from them.
The latest initiative in this regard
is the adoption of a school in a slum
area, Hindu Putri Pathshala by our "Prarth
Club". The students and staff are
contributing for helping that school in
meeting its infrastructural needs.
